Hi, I’m Hyunwoo Kim. I design, build, and evaluate AI-powered interactive systems that help people discover diverse information and perspectives to make better decisions on complex issues.
I completed my PhD in Computer Science at KAIST, where I worked with Professor Juho Kim at KIXLAB. Throughout my PhD, I focused on building interpretive scaffolds, design elements surfacing alternative ways to interpret, examine, and integrate a piece of information into the reasoner’s thinking in the context of complex social issues. I plan to extend this line of research in diverse applied settings where multitude of perspectives is essential, such as user research and AI evaluation.
Outside of research, I enjoy taking photos, traveling, and listening to Korean indie music.
